A Train #1 asterix January BOM

Project Description

What are you most proud of? A Train Quilt This quilt will be enjoyed by a six year old boy for Christmas. This quilt was inspired by: Painted Train blocks helping to make a theme for a boys quilt. Then I brain stormed - Trains, Tracks, grease, screeching, engineer hats, train exchange station. The Train blocks dictated the color of the background and joining strips. I had some strange cotton print material given to me by my neighbor, Sharon. I had some striped denim scraps. Black velvet scraps 5 or six batches. 4 star blocks I made out of various denim's made years ago. I had some dark grey denim. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use up your scraps and use up blocks stored in your UFO bin.

What you will need

  • cotton print and grey denim for sashing and edging. - I used machine quilting stitch in the ditch for all the pieced blocks
  • - I used echo free motion machine quilting for the painted blocks.

Q&A with HeatherIsaacson

BeesKneesGranny asked:
Creative, interesting. I love the slashing--looks like brushstrokes.
HeatherIsaacson answered:
It was an interesting Print. my neighbor bought to make a dress in the 80"s and never did. then she gave it to me. I also used it as the ground in another quilt with spiderman on it. I don't think I can post the spiderman one because I did not use the blocks in that one from this course. like I did thitrain quilt.
