2012 BOM - March Blocks

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I enjoyed making the string block more than the broken spider web block. Even with the bulkier seams because the foundation fabric was left on. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This looks a lot more complicated than it really is.

What you will need

  • Cotton fat quarters and Kona White (String block) and Bone (Spider Web)

Q&A with clari1024

lananana asked:
I love the colors, but you mention "bone" for spider web. Where does that go - I don't see it in the picture.
clari1024 answered:
lananana, these were pictures taken with my iPhone so they are not the best quality. The reds/yellows string block has the nice crisp white Kona but the blues/greens spider web block has the bone as the center "web." These were done on 2 different nights and I misplaced the Kona white and I just used what I has on hand. I think it still looks pretty good.
neecosmom asked:
Beautiful colors! Its so appealing to the eye, and just has a clean crisp feel to it. Wonderful beginning for your quilt. My mother made an enlarged version of this block. She made each section 12 1/2''. You can quickly make an entire quilt this way. Its a fast way to use up scraps. There's so many ideas to do with this one block.
clari1024 answered:
That's a great idea. I'm sure your mother's quilt was beautiful
