2012 Block of the Month

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I finished the top, and immediately started working on the quilting. I also joined the Free Motion quilting course, and Creative Quilt Backs, along with two other free quilting courses that Craftsy offered. Oh, and I bought the Landscape Quilting Course, which really intrigues me. Of course, all this time I am denying that I will become a quilter! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Enjoy the process, and indulge your love of colors. Invest in a rotary cutter, cutting mat and a good quilting ruler. All of these will help you in any sewing project.

What you will need

  • Cotton
  • cotton blend

Q&A with DonnaDeCourcy

ottawamama asked:
I loved your review. I am finishing a similair quilt and I am not pleased with a couple of the blocks but didn't know if I really wanted to exclude them after making them. This has convinced me to not add them if I am not happy! Thanks!
DonnaDeCourcy answered:
I think that taking so many of the Craftsy courses has helped me to have confidence in my own decisions about what I make! I am just about finished quilting this top, with a combination of the Free motions quilting class and the advice from Amy. Thanks for commenting!
rhdh05 asked:
love your colors and the block that you added! Good for you for making it your own.
DonnaDeCourcy answered:
Thank you! It is my first time quilting, and am pleased with the results. Not sure if I will become a diehard quilter, though!
Maimie asked:
I love your quilt - it is beautiful! I am only on the 5th block, but I hope mine turns out okay. I signed up for the quilting of this quilt - I always mess up on the quilting - I have ordered a walking foot - wish me luck
DonnaDeCourcy answered:
I bought a walking foot, as well, but decided I don't like stitching in the ditch as much as free motion, but the walking foot is really helpful. Good luck, can't wait to see yours when it is done!
cindih56 asked:
It is beautiful. Congrats on getting the top done! I am just starting.
DonnaDeCourcy answered:
Thanks! I loved making the blocks and improving my understanding of angles! Wish I had done this at school!
