1600 Jelly Roll Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I love the fabric and how it all came together. That of course was due to the awesome assortment of fabric. What advice would you give someone starting this project? RELAX, it is easy and fun. Sewing all 40 of the strips together is somewhat boring but once you start sewing and folding it is awesome.

What you will need

  • Hoffman fabric
  • Bali Pop jelly roll in Butterscotch....40 2 1/2" x 44 strips. Plus will put two borders of like fabric on this top.

I really like this. Just watched the YouTube video. This can be a great way to use up scraps and it can be a x-mas gift.
catnana answered:
Exactly! I have so much fabric that isnt really enough for alot of projects but could get a couple of strips. Plus who is to say you can't use all different length of strips for a true scrappy look. Endless possibilities!!
dimplesof2 asked:
If you use l jellyroll and no border, what are the dementions?
catnana answered:
Quick measurement was 52 X 66 without borders. Nice throw size for sure!

I made one like this with wider strips that I had to cut from yardage, but the idea is the same. I quilted it in three sections, using a different decorative stitch over each long seam line. Then stitched the three sections together and added binding. It was done pretty quickly and because of the three sections I was able to use different backing fabrics. Turned out great and was a fun way to use all my decorative stitches.
catnana answered:
what a great idea! also by doing it in sections you are able to determine the size you want!! hope you post a picture.

I've made several of these for an orphanage in Ghana. They are very quick and easy and fun to see the end results.

kinda of becomes addicting, so be prepared to do several! Thinking would be good to make throws for Christmas gifts with this pattern. I have four kids so would be a good thing for each family. Something handmade every year so this fits the bill for next year!
