"Hav-A-Hank" Pinwheel Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I LOVE the bright Bold Colors of this and the fact that I left the "label" on them I think it gives the quilt more "personality" What advice would you give someone starting this project? Bandanas/Hankies are not the easiest medium to work with as there are never 2 exactly the same and they all very slightly is size..

What you will need

  • Entire quilt
  • Front
  • Back and binding is made from Bandanas.

Q&A with Hideshobby

JulieKSU91 asked:
This is so cute! I'm doing something similar with bandanas and other head scarves I wore during chemotherapy treatment.
Hideshobby answered:
That is a fabulous idea... :0)
Kingsbury asked:
I've always wanted to do something like this just to use as a table cloth. Never thought for a quilt! Very nice. One question though, did you launder the hankies first? I know some people always prewash quilting cottons.
Hideshobby answered:
I normally do not prewash my fabrics and I made a mistake on this one not prewashing it cause the colors bled a little bit in the first wash... Im working on an American flag outa red white and blue hankies and I did wash them before working with them...
looneytunes asked:
what size are the blocks that make up the pinwheels
Hideshobby answered:
Each pinwheel is 12"

Hideshobby answered:
I dont have a pattern for this.. However i'm sure you can find a tutorial for making 12" pinwheels (just google it) I believe I used aprox 20 bandanas for the top.. The border is the left over pieces from the pinwheels. :0) Good luck and have fun making one.. :0)
