This is a new quilt that I have designed and constructed. I fell in love with the beautiful Kaffe Fassett floral fabric and just had to use it. However, the design was very large scale and I didn't want to cut into it too much so challenged myself to design a quilt with large pieces of uncut fabric as a focal point. The quilt is named Trixie's Quilt in honour of the homeland of my sister-in-law. Trixie and my brother live in her native Phillippines and the beautiful colours in the main fabric reminded me of the beautiful tropical blue sea, the gorgeous pink flowers and the sandy beaches. Therefore, the name of this quilt seemed to be obvious! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed designing and making it. The quilt size is 80" x 80" (200cm x 200cm). The main block used is the flying geese block and the pattern uses a technique based on squares and doesn't use bias edges. In this way you are able to achieve very accurate piecing and sharp points. The written pattern has been tested by a beginner quilted to ensure ease of understanding of the instructions. Photographs are provided for ALL steps of the construction process to give clear and precise information on all sewing steps. The usual line diagrams have NOT been used at all. Handy hints and tips which will assist in the successful completion of this quilt have been added throughout the pattern. The pattern supplies: All fabric requirements Sewing and basic patchwork hints Cutting instructions Pressing tips Layout and Assembly instructions Tips for the completion of your quilt Quilting instructions Binding instructions BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY work with triangles SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 80" x 80" (200cm x 200cm)

Hi. I am Karen Pior and Sew Well Maide is where I wear my business hat. I also have other hats - Mother to five, Wife to one (!!!), Sister, Daughter, Friend. My hats are interchangable or, as frequently happens, worn precariously stacked on top of each other!! I am passionate about all things fabric and textile. I love drafting my own patterns and then sewing beautiful, unique and individual garments from them. This has become my latest obsession passion! I love patchwork quilts both modern and antique. I love the excitement of designing quilts and accessories and stacks of fabric bolts give me a quiet little thrill! I teach pattern drafting, sewing, quilting and crochet to all who are interested in dipping their creative fingers into all these pies! It is wonderful to see the excitement of accomplishment on the faces of my students. Knitting is my nirvana. The click clack of the needles is both soothing and peaceful. It quietens a busy mind and lulls me into another world full of possibilities or nothing in particular!!! Crocheting is so quick and produces such wonderful textures that I can't resist it. When I hang out on Ravelry and Flickr I am known as Knitting Maide. When time allows I love reading, veggie gardening and watching tv. And I try to never, ever miss an opportunity to yell and cheer as the football, soccer, cricket and ballet Mum.
