If you have questions regarding how this pattern class is structured, feel free to email me chezstitches@gmail.com Begins January 2014~~~Complete the journey December 2014. You can purchase at anytime. A 12 month 'Quilt Journey' and a look back into time through letters written by farmer's wives in the 1920's. Laurie Aaron Hird's book The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt is designed using templates and hand piecing methods....NOT THIS PATTERN CLASS!! **This pattern class will teach each block using MODERN piecing techniques. (see my blog for a sampling) The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book is necessary for this 12 month class and can be found and purchased here in my blog post: http://chezstitches.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-farmers-wife-quiltalong-on-craftsy.html At the beginning of each month, there will be another pattern class available offering approximately 10 new blocks and introducing new techniques. You may purchase each of the 12 classes, piecing all 111 quilt blocks resulting in a queen size quilt...or stop after the second class and have enough blocks to make a runner. Class Three includes a small table topper pattern. Continue a few more classes and make a lap or twin size quilt. The choice is yours. Each class is $8.50. The pattern classes will strengthen one's piecing techniques; take the intimidation out of making 6 1/2" blocks and enhance one's quilting skills. Designed for a Strong beginner with competent skills in cutting, stitching a quarter inch seam allowance, good understanding of quilting terms and the desire to learn Before you begin: Determine a 'focus color' and build from there using complimentary scraps or precuts. A variety of large and small prints as well as lights, mediums and darks should find their way into your patchwork. There are no exact amounts of precuts or scraps, just pull from what you like and keep adding bits and pieces as you go. The techniques or patchwork skills shared in the classes will be used in multiple blocks. Once a new technique is introduced, there will be a handful of blocks using the same method. The blocks have been divided based upon patchwork skills, not in chronological order as shown in the book. Class One begins with simple techniques and builds from there. Some months will have as little as 8 blocks, some months there will be more...most have 10 My advice is to begin with Class One and continue in Class order as the skill levels advance and new techniques introduced. Included in Class One are two additional documents with important information to begin your Farmer's Wife Quilt~Along. Please read them carefully and keep them in a special notebook with all your class instructions. The piecing illustrations are in color...if you choose to print in black and white, you may want to refer to the download copy on your computer from time to time. All the pdf's are high quality. Work at your own pace or get a group of friends together! Let the Journey begin!! **view my blog post for a few more tips and color options!! http://chezstitches.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-farmers-wife-quiltalong-on-craftsy.html BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Strong beginner with good understanding of quilting terms and basic quilting methods SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS varies depending on what you would like to make. ie: table runner, table topper, lap, twin, queen or king size quilt

The year 2010 is when i truly started to focus on quilting as something more than just a hobby. Having been a stay at home mom for 20 years, my world changed the minute my boys graduated from high school. I knew i had to fill my time with something! And why not with something i loved? Best part~~ my husband is my biggest cheerleader! I spent hours of practice and many classes learning how to machine quilt. Today I own a computerized Innova longarm and do machine quilting for myself and others. Visit my website to see examples of my work. :) Contact me if you'd like me to quilt for you! I began designing quilt patterns in 2013. In 2014 I started offering 12 pdf class downloads to make the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt using modern rotary cutting and piecing methods.
