"Seize Hope! Beauty grows in unlikely places." Sometimes we just need a little reminder. Creating quilt art should be fun! The pieced background is designed to minimize the frustration of perfect piecing. The measurements given create an over-sized background which is trimmed down before finishing. The appliqued shapes can be completed by fusing or using any machine or hand applique method. The choice is yours. The pattern includes clear instructions for inking text on fabric and mounting the project over a wooden stretcher frame. Tips are also included for building your own frame. You can choose to bind the project instead but a framed piece gives you such great display options. You can hang it on the wall or prop it on a shelf or piece of furniture and even group your piece with other objects you love. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY basic piecing basic applique SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 12" x 12"

Recommended with this pattern

  • 13" x 13" backing fabric
  • 6" edging or binding fabric
  • scraps for applique

The Quilted Canvas by Barb Westfall
The Quilted Canvas by Barb Westfall
I am Barb Westfall, a quilt artist from Canada. Much of my art is inspired by the wide open landscape all around me and by great works of art hanging in galleries around the world. I love to experiment with fibers, fabrics, and techniques and try to challenge myself to do something new in each piece I create. The possibilities are endless and inspiration is everywhere! I display many of my pieces mounted on stretcher frames, a simple process I explain in my collection of patterns from The Quilted Canvas. You'll always find something a little different in my patterns but I believe creativity should be fun so I keep the projects simple and flexible ... designed to bring out the quilt artist in YOU, too!
