I designed this pattern to teach beginner quilters how to master various techniques in an order that built their skill level. I include lots of tips and pointers for more efficient and precise piecing. I also give some guidelines for fabric choices, as well as a coloring sheet to help you decide on your color layout! This quilt is a sampler quilt, but has an attractive design that makes it look more appealing than a quilt made with 25 random blocks. It is designed as a series of 12 lessons that take about 2 hours each to complete - when I teach this as a class there is some homework, but generally students are able to complete the majority of the lessons in the classroom. This pattern starts with basic quilting skills, and each week the student learns new skills that build on the old ones. As often as possible I present alternative techniques - for example, you can make half-square triangles in two different ways. You can machine applique or hand applique your dresden plates. Foundation piece or use templates for a triangle in a square unit. I believe choices empower quilters to create in a way that is comfortable as well as attractive. This quit is for anyone who would like to make an attractive queen size quilt, regardless of skill level! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic Sewing Skills SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 92 x 92
