Pattern Details

Celebrate Independence Day with a red, white and blue pinwheel quilt. The pinwheel is made with a unique 3 dimensional pattern that is both striking in appearance and easy to create, even for a beginner. This mini quilt is a whole cloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt. The appliques are sewn with the fabric edges raw, exposed. It is designed to fray to the stitches, giving a textured, folk look to the quilt. The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. There is no binding; the edges are finished by sewing all around and then clipping the edges to fray. Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS approximately 18x 21 inches (45x53cm)

Recommended with this pattern

  • 2 fat quarters (18x21 inches or 45x53 cm) cotton fabric for the front and back
  • 1 fat quarter (18x21 inches or 45x53 cm) cotton flannel fabric for the middle layer (This fabric will show at the clipped edges of the quilt) or one piece 18x21 of cotton batting.
  • 1 piece red cotton flannel 12.5 inches square (32cm) for pinwheel front
