A colorful piano-key border surrounds a quilt-top full of sparkling stars in this pretty quilt. Make it in pastels as shown for a baby's room or in bolder colors to coordinate with your decor. The pieces for the star blocks are easily cut from scraps, fat quarters, charm squares, and other pre-cuts. For the border, you'll need fat quarters (or equivalent yardage) of at least two different prints of each of four colors (8 total) to achieve the scrappy look. Log-Cabin-style sashing added to each block frames them in an unexpected and appealing setting. The Oh My Stars! Sampler is a lesson in how color and design can make a difference with a simple block design. Three classic block designs were used to create a total of ten different, but related, star blocks, simply by changing the block centers and color placements. There are many more ways to "color" these to make the quilt your own. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic sewing/quilting skills SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 45-1/2" square

I am a published sewing and quilting author with several books and many magazine articles to my credit. My most recent book, How to Make a Quilt was published in August 2014 by Storey Publishing. I've written two other successful books for them-- The Quilting Answer Book and The Sewing Answer Book. I learned to sew from my great grandmother, two grandmothers, and my Mom when I was barely in grade school and I've been sewing ever since. I added quilting to my repertoire in the 1980s and worked for a major quilt book publisher as Managing Editor and then Editor-in-Chief for 5 years. Now I have my own business, designing quilts and tote bags and anything else that strikes my fancy. Go to to see my projects and whatever else I'm up to. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you'd like to make in my Craftsy store!
