PATTERN DETAILS

I really love giving handmade gifts - Christmas, wedding or baby showers, house warming parties - you name it. Unfortunately, I often grossly overestimate the amount of time that I need to finish and end up scrambling to finish at the last minute, pulling all-nighters that rival the days of procrastinating on my college papers! That's one of the reasons that I love this quilt! - It's a project that can be whipped up over a weekend or during a couple of baby's afternoon naps. This project is strip-pieced, so the assembly goes super fast! I've called the pattern "New Growth" because it reminds me of tiny spring buds poking their heads up {seemingly overnight} through the snow as winter starts fading to spring. As I was looking back over my posts from 2012, I realize that I never celebrated my 100th post back in January of 2012, so I've decided to celebrate this spring with a free quilt tutorial and quilt along. You can participate by posting pictures of your finished projects in either or these Flickr groups: Poplun Designs: http://www.flickr.com/groups/poplun/ New Growth Quilt-A-Long: http://www.flickr.com/groups/newgrowth/ A quick note on using Fat Quarters: They're are supposed to measure approximately 18" x 22" - but their actual size can be really varied. For this pattern, as long as your fat quarter is at least 20" tall, you'll be just fine. Please be sure to read through all the instructions before starting your beautiful version, use a 1/4" seam allowance, and press seams open unless directed otherwise. Happy sewing!! Cora's Quilts
Welcome to Cora's Quilts on Craftsy! My name is Shelley: wife, mom, quilter, and designer from Sacramento, CA. I love designing quilting projects big and small, alike - my patterns are built upon classic quilt blocks and patterns, that have been updated for the contemporary sewer. I include directions for modern, simplified, time-saving cutting and piecing techniques, and some of my favorite building blocks are those fabulous pre-cut fabric bundles, like 5" Charm Packs and 10" Layer Cakes. The majority of my patterns are also scrap-bin friendly, so if you're looking to make a little bit of room in your stash, you've come to the right place! All my projects include clear, concise instructions accompanied by full-color illustrations and photos. Visit my blog at www.CorasQuilts.com to see what I'm working on in my studio or visit my etsy shop at www.CorasQuilts.etsy.com for kits featuring the patterns you see here. Thanks for stopping by and happy sewing!
