Mountain Dawning was inspired by a traditional Delectable Mountains pattern - but I wanted to create this version using 2 1/2 strips. The cover quilt is made using an Island Batik Alpine Ice Strip pack. If you want to make this quilt you will need an equal amount of dark and light strips. Not all strip sets can be divided into an even amount, but you can always cut more strips to make up the difference. I've labeled this quilt as an intermediate level because it does require organization and precision in the cutting and sewing - I do believe that many beginner quilters could make this quilt however. You can also make this quilt using yardage - Eight quarter yard cuts of dark and Eight quarter yard cuts of light would be plenty and give you a good variety of colors.
