PATTERN DETAILS

The iconic Unikko (Poppy) print was designed in 1964 by Maija Isola for Marimekko, the famous Finnish company - even though its founder had sworn never to print floral fabrics. I have been collecting fat quarters of Unikko fabric in different colourways for quite a while, wanting to make a quilt that would celebrate this famous design. I decided to make a Lone Star with large diamonds to showcase the individual fabrics, separated by white sashing strips. The binding fabric is also a Unikko print. For the backing of the quilt I used another famous Marimekko fabric: the large-scale design Hetki (Moments). This is the perfect design to showcase your favourite fabrics! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Use a rotary cutter, ruler and mat Be accurate when cutting and piecing Sew a quarter inch seam SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 68'' square
