Twelve years ago, my mother died from a rare form of ovarian cancer called PPOC. Since then, I've launched my quilt design business, and I try to come up with ways to use my powers for good and combine my business with some awareness. My latest venture along those lines was to create the "Two for Teal" mug rug swap and OCRF fundraiser on my Quilting Hottie Haven blog in September 2013. Thirty-three quilters paid $5 each to join me in creating mug rugs for another participant using a swap fabric in some way on their quilt. $3.50 from each participant was donated to OCRF; the rest I used to defray my postage from mailing the fabric. I created this mug rug for one of my swap partners, who is looking to raise awareness as one of her friends is currently undergoing treatment. It is my hope that it will give her hope, and my hope that this mug rug will be made using all colors of "cancer ribbons" to honor those who are so bravely fighting this disease. 50% of all proceeds from sales of this pattern will be donated on a monthly basis to the American Cancer Society. Thank you for your support of finding a cure.
