Pattern Details

This is on sale for the month of October. It will either be discontinued on November 1st or it will revert to full price. A sewing machine block and another block with spools are the sixth and seventh blocks in "Home", a quilt along, block of the month, mystery quilt. These two blocks are companion pieces that can fit together in several different way or separated in the finished quilt. Anyone participating in this quilt along is obviously a sewist, and that means that your home most likely contains at least one sewing machine, and along with that sewing machine you likely have lots of spools of thread. These items are definitely part of my home. Neither block needs to be part of a quilt. With a pretty border the sewing machine could easily be turned into a cheerful little wall hanging. The spools block is lovely as a mug rug, too. Although both blocks are found in this pattern and the pattern includes mug rug instructions, the spools block is also available as a separate mug rug pattern. Fusible web applique makes the blocks quick and easy to sew. The pattern includes detailed, illustrated instructions, full size templates for the applique pieces, and full size layout plans. For more information about the quilt along visit my blog: Posts about this quilt can be found under the label "Quilt Along Mystery Quilt" found on the right hand side of my page. Photos of blocks sent by participants in the quilt along are located in the quilt along photos page at the top of my blog. When I retired from a lifetime of teaching in 2007, I was worried that I'd quickly get bored. That concern didn't last long at all. I was thrilled to discover that there really is life outside of the classroom. I spend parts of most of my days indulging in my favorite hobbies of quilting and sewing. I started designing patterns as an experiment, and no one was more surprised than I was to find that other people liked my little designs. I'm a teacher at heart, so I do try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can follow them. I include lots of details, photos, and little informative notes. I make myself easily available to my customers, and I respond to all questions as quickly and as thoroughly as I can. Contact Information: Blog:, Facebook Page:, Email:
