Pattern Details

My friend Ann, moved into a nice retirement community in another state. She had been waiting on space in this community for several years and was eager to retire there. She left family and friends behind to begin a new life in her mid-70's in a place where she knew no one. I thought it was quite courageous of her. So, I wanted to make a quilt with her favorite colors to bring her warmth and comfort, and to remind her that she is loved and missed. It is made using a quilt-as-you-go technique. It is simple to piece and as soon as you have made a block - it's already quilted! Cool! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Maintain consistent scant 1/4" seam

Recommended with this pattern

  • Walking foot
  • Fabric yardage listed in the pattern

My mother taught me to sew when I was 8 - doll clothes by hand, then she moved me on to her old Singer. But it was Home Ec in Jr. High where I discovered that sewing was my "thing.". Throughout the years, I sewed clothing and made pillows and curtains and stuff. But quilting? Just the thought of cutting a beautiful piece of fabric into little pieces and sewing them together again seemed a little crazy to me. But when my first great-niece was born, I made my first quilt for her and was hooked! As a new quilter, I couldn't find designs that were easy enough, so, I got design software and started tinkering. Now that I am retired, my life is all about my DH and quilting. Thanks to Craftsy, I am able to share my designs and patterns with you. In addition to quilt designing, I stay busy in my guild, and have a quilting business: Quiltniques! My beloved longarm is named Margie and she works hard.
