Here is a perfect project for some simple gifts or to brighten up your holiday table. I love to do y-seam piecing!! Since Mary O'Keefe showed me her clever way of chain-piecing through set-in seams, I can't stop!! As an educator for Marti Michell's template products, I've created this guide for making an attractive tablemat using hexagons templates and the chain piecing technique in my instruction DVD, Set-In Piecing Simplified available at The sample in the photo is made with 2" hexagons and is 21 1/2" by 24 1/2" but larger or small hexagons can be used for sizes up to 32" by 36". BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY y-seam piecing, rotary cutting with templates, consistent 1/4" seams SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 16" by 18" to 32" by 36" depending on hexagon size
