Perfect for a minimalist, simple, calm room. This pattern reminds me of bamboo leaves. Make the asterisks scrappy and use up fabric from your scrap basket, or go for a more coordinated look. Change it up and make the background more than one color. There is a giant hidden chevron in the pattern which would be great in a contrasting color. This quilt is completely pieced (not appliqued). I use a combination of templates, rotary cutting, and paper piecing to minimize frustration and fabric wastage. Don't be afraid of the paper piecing--there are precise diagrams for each step and you get perfect shapes every time. In this pattern there is no guessing how to align randomly shaped triangles and then swearing when they don't quite fit. It is actually a fairly quick and easy quilt to sew, and is a perfect project to dip your toe into paper piecing! If you have a finished quilt under your belt, you can make this quilt. This pattern is packed full of color illustrations (one for every step) and very clear instructions. It is formatted to letter-sized paper for easy printing. I walk you through fabric quantities (for crib, throw, twin, queen, and king sizes), cutting, piecing, and assembling the quilt top. I included a few alternative layouts as well. There are full-sized templates and foundations. Best of all there is a full-page coloring sheet for you to play with.
