GIFT WRAP is a quick and easy design based on the traditional Sister's Choice quilt block. One day I realized that expanding the sides of a two-color version of the block created a design that looks a ribbon tied in a bow. I tested various ways to sew the new block together, and fiddled with the quilt math to create the perfect proportions for various sizes.. The result is a new twist on an old favorite. It turns a simple throw pillow into a gift-wrapped package perfect for sharing your love of quilting with family and friends. The 37-page PDF pattern includes detailed instructions for six different sizes, including squares from 14" up to 24", with three different options for the back, from a simple plain-fabric panel to a fun "back of the package" pieced design. The pattern includes fabric selection tips and cutting diagrams for all pillow sizes and layouts: so you can be sure to get all the necessary pieces from a barely-big-enough piece of precious fabric. Plus, you'll get a secret link (see page 36) where you can download a special BONUS PDF tutorial booklet that walks you, step-by-step, through installing an invisible or lapped zipper, or making a no-zip envelope back. (Newbies: you can do it!) GIFT WRAP is super-easy and quick to sew. It's such versatile design: it looks great in bright florals, would be stunning in solids (how 'bout silk, or linen?), and even works with novelty prints. Aloha, I'm Stephanie Serrano, a writer and designer living in Olympia, WA, with my husband and a white cat named Halo. I've been sewing for many years (since I was a kid), and made my first quilt more decades ago than I care to admit. I adore strong colors and big, bold prints, and love to play with design and construction methods. My one of a kind quilts lean toward scrappy and improvisational, while my patterns tend to feature cleaner lines and simple construction. One of my big creative goals is to do more garment sewing and develop a fun, unique wardrobe of me-made clothing. I invite you to visit my blog at, and follow me on instagram: @venusdehilo
