It's a quartet! Seasonal colors and four common backyard birds depict the four seasons of the year. The gentle, soft colors of spring are the setting for a bluejay, and a red headed woodpecker sits among the hotly colored blossoms of mid-summer. A red breasted robin blends with autumn shades of falling leaves, while the bright red and black colors of the cardinal stand out boldly in contrast to winter skies and evergreens. This set of mug rugs has many possible applications. The four can be displayed together or rotated through the year. They could be used as quilt blocks to make a wall hanging or lap quilt. Colors can be altered to reflect the seasons wherever you live, or the birds could be made with whimsical fabrics that bear no relationship to their natural coloring. Quick and easy to put together with fusible web applique, these little mug rugs make wonderful gifts and will brighten any desk or tabletop. The pattern contains four pages of detailed instructions with photos, as well as full size templates for applique pieces and layout illustrations for each of the four birds. When I retired from a lifetime of teaching in 2007, I was worried that I'd quickly get bored. That concern didn't last long at all. I was thrilled to discover that there really is life outside of the classroom. I spend parts of most of my days indulging in my favorite hobbies of quilting and sewing. I started designing patterns as an experiment, and no one was more surprised than I was to find that other people liked my little designs. I'm a teacher at heart, so I do try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can follow them. I include lots of details, photos, and little informative notes. I make myself easily available to my customers, and I respond to all questions as quickly and as thoroughly as I can. Contact Information: Blog:, Facebook Page:, Email:
