Besides creating scrappy easy fun patterns with few rules, my other love is machine applique on a pieced background, preferrably with lots of sparkly beads to up the wow factor. This little wallhanging is from my "Beaded Blooms" series of seasonal wallhangings, and obviously is the series' ode to springtime. It's been a perennial (ha!) favorite since its debut in 2008, when after a tough winter I was inspired by the bleeding hearts pushing through the snow outside my studio window. The quilt stays true to my personal style of "you really can't screw it up" by utilizing some funky slashed background blocks and applique shapes that are smooth and as close to nature as I personally can draw. As I often tell audiences, that's the great thing about nature shapes - if you look hard enough, you probably COULD find one that looks exactly like what I have drawn. A great project to brighten any season of sewing! SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 32" x 15"
