This PDF pattern is called "Dragonfly." I have a thing for daylilies and have quite the collection of them in my garden in all shades from yellow to pink and purple. Dragonflies seem to love to land on the stalks once the flowers are spent. That was the inspiration for this block! The finished block measures 10" x 10". Pattern includes a numbered, colored diagram as well as mirror image pattern pieces, ready for foundation piecing. Basic paper piecing directions are not included. This pattern does not have any curves. There are two very slight Y seams that are completely doable and possible to do with the papers in place. I will walk you through it and you won't break out in a sweat, promise! I designed this block as it is oriented on the pattern cover. However, you can easily turn your completed block to make the dragonfly point in whatever direction you wish, as you can see in the second image. A set of 4 of these facing toward the center would make a great 20" pillow cover. The third image is a mock up of this idea. During Quiet Time
When I was a little girl, I said I wanted to grow up to be a mommy and an artist. I'd like to think that I am just that! I am the mother to three wonderful children ages. I studied art and art history, worked as a museum collections curator, and am now a SAHM who enjoys expressing my creative side through quilting, sewing and fabric printing. I find time for this "during quiet time."
