Last year I had the need for a cross body bag for a major quilt shopping weekend and was leaving the next day! I quickly created this pattern on the fly! I had received so many compliments and requests to make them for family, friends and customers that I decided it was time to turn it into a pattern so others could enjoy making it! No two cross body bags will be the same, ever! Especially if you choose to use various widths of multiple fabrics to create the palette you will then quilt and from which all pieces are cut. These are wonderful for shopping as it leaves your hands free. Great for college students who want something small but large enough to hold cell phones, wallets, keys, and other small items. They make wonderful gifts! The cosmetic bag is boxed bottom and free standing and can be made whatever size you need. Very quick to make and again, each one unique! As I hate to throw away fabric, the scraps left over after making the bags, are then stitched together, cut to size and binding applied to make wonderful mug mats or coasters! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Know how to add binding to a quilt edge. Some familiarity with free motion quilting. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Cross Body Bag measures 9 1/2" wide from seam to seam; 10" tall from top edge of purse to center bottom seam; box bottom depth of 2". Cosmetic bag size is optional, depending on how much fabric is available after cutting out cross body bag. But it should be 10" wide, height is optional. Mug Mats/Coasters are made from joining scraps of remaining fabrics after the cross body bag and cosmetic bags are made. You can choose to make one or more large mug mats or 3-4 smaller coasters.
