Pattern Details

Quilts come in all shapes and sizes. And, so do the requests from friends and family. These appliqued blocks were a result of such a request. I decided I'd create my own birdhouse design and embellish it until it was pleasing for my client. The original quilt pattern layout was upgraded with the new appliqued blocks. The name of the new quilt is called, "Bluebird Landing." You can see the finished results at This PDF pattern has colored illustrations, clear instructions, and full-size templates for the applique pieces; already reversed for the fusible applique process. Use my fabric choices as your guide and have fun with these quilt blocks. Try one or all six; it's up to you! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY From the different applique techniques, I like this one the best; and it is the easiest to do. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Block size: 8 1/2" x 11"

Sewing began my 'adventure with fabric' in seventh grade, from making my own clothes, to now having a passion for quilting. I love the creative process and completion of each project is more important than striving for perfection. Presently, I like to blend applique with scrap quilting techniques and finishing my quilts with the quilt-as-you-go technique. After 14 years of quilting, I still haven't learned how to FMQ, but perhaps, it can till happen. When away from my sewing space, it's counted cross stitch and hand embroidery, I'll be working on. I love how creative this platform is; and still enjoy learning new things every year.
