Pattern Details

This journal design was inspired by the theme for a Ladies Retreat I helped plan several years ago. The idea being that sometimes Blessings come through difficult circumstances. I came up with this journal design which I made as gifts for the retreat with the idea of eventually publishing it. As an Island Batik Ambassador we had a challenge for April 2016 which gave me a great reason to finally get this finished! This is a variation on my original Quilted Journal Pattern - I include full size templates for the umbrella as well as a traceable pattern for the word Blessings. Tips are included for making a similar cover in a different size. This pattern is designed using charm squares or scraps for the body of the cover. You could make several of these out of one package of charm squares. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic Sewing Skills, Free Motion Quilting SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 7 1/2 x 10 inch finished Instructions include tips for larger notebooks

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1 fat quarter for lining and flaps
  • grosgrain ribbon
  • 12 x 20 batting

I've been making things as long as I can remember, thanks to my Mom who is a great seamstress! From my start in quilting I have loved creating my own original designs, and I am glad for the opportunity to share them here with you! I especially love making patterns that are encouraging for beginner quilters - I try to make sure my directions are clear and well illustrated to take the frustration out of quilting and make it a joyful process. I'm always happy to answer questions and provide help if you have any problems, just let me know. Thanks so much for looking at my patterns!
