The center of the quilt is a traditional Triple Irish Chain pattern (directions are included in the pattern) and the border of the quilt is made of twenty eight embroidery blocks. The embroidery can be completed with just simple basic stitches. Straight stitch, stem stitch, French knot, and chain stitch are all that is needed. The pattern includes full size embroidery patterns for ten different blocks. You can choose the mix of these patterns to create the twenty eight border blocks. Four of these are set on point for the corners of the quilt. The designs include a fabric store, daycare, bed and breakfast, a feed & seed, church, school, quilt shop, and three different apartments in the village. There is also a design for a bird to quilt within the white space of the center of the quilt. Fabric requirements are: 1 1/4 yards for the outside chain 1 yard for the inside chain 1 1/4 yards for the center chain 2 yards for the center blocks background 3 3/4 yard for the background blocks in the border (total of 5 3/4 yards of background if you want to use the same fabric in the center quilt as you do for the embroidered border) The quilt is pictured as a full color and as a redwork style.
