Bed of Tulips, originally designed by Kathleen Whiting for the McCalls Quilt Design Star Challenge. Kathleen was challenged to design a quilt using just 2 repeating blocks.
BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY
I was born and raised in Heber, UT. All of my childhood my mom owned a Custom Curtain and Decorating Shop. I spent many summers at her shop watching the ladies sew and then taking their scraps and making my own quilts. One of these quilts I entered in the local fair and it went on to win a ribbon at the State Fair.
When I was pregnant with my daughter Chesney my husband and I decided that I would no longer work as a dental assistant. I left my job of six years and bought a Gammil Long Arm quilting machine. I decided at that point to pursue a career as a machine quilter.
I continue to machine quilt for myself and others. I have won ribbons for my quilts, been published in a few magazines and books and have spent time teaching about pre-cut fabrics, machine quilting and my raw-edge starch applique technique. I LOVE quilting and hope to share my love with all quilters!
My first book, Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting was published in September, 2012, in 2013 I co-wrote Modern One-Block Quilts with my mom Kathleen Whiting, and in 2015 Cabin Fever: 20 Modern Log Cabin Quilts, another collaboration book that Kathleen and I wrote will be released..
