A jelly roll, another name for a set of 2.5″ pre-cut fabric strips, is a great time saver for many quilters. With the fabric already cut and coordinated, all that’s left to do is sew together the strips into a fantastic quilt top.

2. World’s Fastest Rail Fence pattern

Finishing at 40″ by 50″, this dynamic jelly roll quilt uses only three colors. Because all of the blocks are sewn together in the same formation, you can sew together lots of strips at once, and then cut them down into usable blocks. This pattern requires only 25 jelly roll strips, plus backing and binding fabric.

Hate these jelly rolls. I thought they would be fun, but nooooooo! You don’t get the same amount of each colors or patterns. Same with the charm packs. Horrible!

Is there a pattern for the black and white jelly roll throw featured at the top? I think the black and white in that pattern is stunning. If anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks!


It looks like it is black and white strips sewn together and then cut with a 90 degree triangle ruler and sewn into squares.
