What was your source for this sewing project?
Online Photo or Website
Name of website or photo CLICK HERE for Thread Catcher pattern.
What materials did you use? (1) Fat Quarter, (1) 4" Wood Embroidery Hoop (inside ring only), Light Weight Cardboard (big enough for (2) 4" circles), Light Weight Batting for (1) 4" Circle, Matching Thread
What are you most proud of? After learning how to make these from a friend in my quilt guild, I made 25 or so of these for a charity event to help raise money for the Humane Society and they all sold out! FAST! Should have made more! I had some problems with the original instructions, they were a little hard to understand in spots so...I rewrote the instructions and included images - this should help in creating your own thread catchers.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? The perfect place to shop is Hobby Lobby. They usually carry the embroidery hoops and I've found have the cheapest pricing - much cheaper than Michaels. This makes a perfect gift for your sewing buddies. It's fast, easy and inexpensive! It closes up so you can make one to keep with your sewing basket or sewing machine travel case, one to keep next to your sewing machine and one to keep on the end table where you do all your hand sewing!
