What are you most proud of? After learning how to make these from a friend in my quilt guild, I made 25 or so of these for a charity event to help raise money for the Humane Society and they all sold out! FAST! Should have made more! I had some problems with the original instructions, they were a little hard to understand in spots so...I rewrote the instructions and included images - this should help in creating your own thread catchers.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? The perfect place to shop is Hobby Lobby. They usually carry the embroidery hoops and I've found have the cheapest pricing - much cheaper than Michaels. This makes a perfect gift for your sewing buddies. It's fast, easy and inexpensive! It closes up so you can make one to keep with your sewing basket or sewing machine travel case, one to keep next to your sewing machine and one to keep on the end table where you do all your hand sewing!

I made them in basic colors plus black and white. When I'm doing a new project, I line them up and put the scraps in each color. Much easier to keep track of them for "scrappy" projects later. Then I also have one just for threads when I'm sewing. (I also put some of the threads outside in a basket for the birds to make nests.)

I hope you're still answering questions. I'm a beginner sewer. Is there a lie that is made to go with these? I was a little confused by the pictures? I downloaded the pattern. I seem to not be understanding about a lid since one picture is showing baskets with lids in the middle. But I can't seem to tell in the pattern if there is a lid included. Thanks.

Is there a pattern for the top of the basket included in the instructions. I downloaded it ok but am a little confused about whether or not there is a lid.
