Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. Many years ago, probably 15 or so years, I saw a work by Richard McLean hanging in a gallery window in San Francisco. It was of a white horse tied to an old, rusted trailer. The horse looks into the eyes of the viewer . I was just amazed by it. I recently began to paint horses and remembered that painting. I did not know the name of the artist and had to do quite a bit of research to find him. I thought it would be a challenge to try to paint a horse and a trailer like his. Well, I figured out how to draw the trailer in perspective, but I got stuck on the wheels. So I decided to study Mr. McLean's wheels. But I do not understand circles in perspective. I used graphite and colored pencils in the sketches here.

Hello Bright Morning, An official welcome to the Perspective in Landscape Drawing Projects section. Thank you for sharing the inspiration for this drawing. You did very well with the perspective of the horse trailer, and the tires are not bad. Give me a few days to make a drawing post an image that may be of use to you and others in drawing circles in perspective. Thank you for providing a reference image, could you give some information on materials: Pencils, dimensions and type of paper?

Thank you! I just received a used copy Basic Perspective Drawing by John Montague 5th edition. I was looking at the perspective grids and thought that a grid may be helpful. So excited to try making a grid and a plan for circles. Also I have been reading The Psychology of Perspective and Renaissance Art by M. Kubovy. We had neither of these books in the public libraries. I purchased them used on-line. I live in a rural area and taking an art class like this is a real treat. So appreciate being able to afford to do this!

You are welcome Bright Morning. Montague and Kubovy are well worth reading, pleased to see that you agree. I look forward to seeing the post of your next drawing assignment.
