What are you most proud of? I love the flying geese block.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you're going to sew with black fabric and black thread, have a great light source. I found that frequently I did most of my sewing in the morning when light came in through my east facing windows. It was almost impossible for me to work on this in the evening. And I have additional lights on my machine plus the large Ott lights for added lighting.

Lovely quilt! I like the Dresden wheel block in the center the best b/c it gives the quilt better balance in the overall layout and draws my eye out to the other squares. With the string block in the middle it is balanced but draws my eye right in to the center.

Very interesting comment. I highly appreciate the feedback. Are you bothered by the identical fabrics that are used in the Dresden wheel block and the Asterisk block and the adjacent placement of them?

Hi...I am not bothered by either block...Now, if you had done every single block like those two it would have quite the dizzying effect, but in a sampler it's great! :)

I like the Dresden center with the more color and busier blocks in the corners. I really like your choice of color background and use of stripe material. Great job

Thanks, It really has been a fun project to work on. And Amy Gibson is a fantastic teacher.

Dresdon wheel centre gets my vote!! Too many circles in a row in t'other! Love the black...didn't it kill your eyes???? Personally I would move the pound sign block (WHY is it named that?? looks nothing like sign) and move it to the bottom right (as you look at it) corner.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll try moving the Wonky Pound sign and see what that does. I was steering away from that location because it's of the same fabric as the one in the far right middle. And yes, the black kills my eyes. And it's the second black quilt that I've done although the other was smaller. I do work in the daylight only when I work on this type of fabric. And I am definitely ready to take a break from piecing black fabric. The last one I even quilted in black thread--long story.

I like the way the dresden block explodes and directs my eye to all of the others.

Dresden block in the center!

Thanks to Linda and others for all your help. I have now finished piecing the blocks together with 1/4 inch red sashing separating the blocks, Dresden block in CENTER!!!
