What materials did you use? I went to Canadian Tire and bought the largest steel washers I could find. I then wrapped and glued them in polyester ribbon.

What are you most proud of? It was fast, easy and cheap.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't work on this project with cats around! Seriously, as soon as they saw ribbon, they were all up in my face and wanting to play with me. Oh, who am I kidding, they wanted the ribbon. My kitties wanted to be part of this project so badly that they wouldn't even let me take pictures without their help! Above is Pontificus the First (or Ponti for short) modelling with the cool, hip, and functional pattern weights.

What a fabulous idea!!!! I will have to try this. I have a set of pattern weights (very expensive) but sometimes on larger pieces it would be nice to have a few extra weights for the outer areas. Now I know how to get them without paying the high price for the commercial ones. Thanks for the idea!!! And Ponti is adorable.

I really appreciate this plan, and had to laugh when you described your kitties reaction to those ribbon ends. Cats have always been a part of my life, and I can see one of my two going for this, too. Thank you for a great idea and the smile on my face.
