What advice would you give someone starting this project? Practice, practice, practice

Beautiful! The black sashing really pulled all the bright colors together---it looks wonderful and so bright and cheerful!

Thank you so much. It was my first attempt at a large quilt and after I had the top together, added batting and backing, I found I could not navigate the quilt through my sewing machine. I ended up cutting it into 3 sections so that I could machine quilt it. Anyway I am pleased with the result.

Wow! Awesome, Sheryl!! Love the colors! I have yet to quilt anything larger than a lap quilt on my home machine! Way to go!

Hi Beachmom5. Thank you so much for your kind words. I joined Amy Gibson's Craftsy Block of the Month 2012, a free course, which is still available. I found this to be so helpful - I learned so much from her. She goes through each of the blocks with you with clear and concise instructions and photos. Here is the link - Each month Amy walks you through 2 different blocks so when finished, you would have a lap sized quilt. I needed a much larger one so I sometimes did 2 of the blocks for the month and some I found on the internet ie. card trick block. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and have frequently gone back and reviewed some of her techniques to use again. I would highly recommend this course to help you get going. Let me know how it goes.
