The photo is from a book of 'Painting Peaceful Country Landscapes.' I did find that sketching from the 'finished product' was really not easy. There was a sketch in the book also, but I didn't like using it. I have decided that what I need to do is go outside and sketch. Babs

Hello babs.baue, Many of those of you who have posted are not only getting experience drawing from other artwork but are gaining insight from the analysis of your newly-gained appreciation and awareness. It may be of interest that one way artists were trained and trained themselves was working from masterworks. Copying from other artists was practiced by Michelangelo, Raphael, Rubens, Delacroix, and Degas to name but several of the thousands who did. Of course, it is ideal to be working from nature at the same time, if possible. Look forward to your plein air drawing being posted.
