Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: The cake was a jam & cream Victoria Sponge cake baked in a square 10" tin. This was cut into sections, and I started with a larger section at the bottom and tapered it until I had the rough shape of the handbag. I used CMC in the fondant and used a texture mat to give the leather effect. The zip was a recently purchased zip mould only recently arrived here to the UK. The handles were the most difficult, having moulded them first with the modelling paste and then over wrapping them to give the leather look. They were then pegged and put into the front of the handbag.

This took quite a few hours to produce, but was worth the effort when the Mum collected it. Apparently it was a great success at the surprise party and the birthday girl thought Mum & Dad had bought the real handbag when it was brought out at the Cocktail Bar Party - until she saw candles around it !! She loved it !! So am delighted !!
