Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Royal Icing, powdered food colors mixed with vodka, artists brushes, gumpaste, cutter, gumpaste mold and rolling pin. Plus an extruder for the vines.

What are you most proud of? So proud of the reaction this cake garnered at a recent wedding show.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If intimidated, roll out a square of fondant and practice on it before taking on a real cake. You will be amazed at how silly your fear was and how easily this went together.

Can I use these designs on butter cream?

Someone asked if this design could be done on buttercream. Yes and no. Yes if you keep your flower petals and leaves all gumpaste, but this design starts out with a brushed embroidery design done directly on the fondant. Something you can't do on buttercream because the oils in the buttercream will dissolve and weaken the royal.
