Orange is the new black! Brides these days are frequently turning to brightly colored wedding cakes, and orange is such a fun hue to decorate with because it can go in so many directions, from popular peach shades to citrusy clementine and all the way to vibrant neon orange. Orange pairs beautifully well with all of the great pinks that are so popular right now, and throw in sweet dove gray, and you are very on trend!

Modern orange and silver wedding cake
This modern wedding cake has all the bells and whistles that make it a current trend-setter: edible silver leaf finish, perfectly symmetrical orange and white stripes on the bias, and a fondant ruffle sphere perched magically on top. To make this cake, Bluprint member ACAKEMAKER1 used Jessica Harris’s wax-paper transfer method, taught in the course Clean & Simple Cake Design.

Ombré ruffle wedding cake
Like a buttercream sunset, this tall and frilly beauty was created by San Francisco’s The Cake Lady. I’m loving the orange ombré iced ruffle effect, topped off with bright red isomalt sugar candy monograms of the bride and groom.

Fondant daisy topped wedding cupcakes
Orange and green were the colors for a sweet and simple wedding, and the bride wanted her cupcakes topped gerber daisies in orange and green. They were created using fondant cutters.

Vibrant art deco wedding cake
There are so many lovely, chic elements on this art deco inspired wedding cake, which boasts a lovely color palette of pale robin’s egg blue, gold, cream and orange, with accents of pearlescent ivory fondant. Taking inspiration from Bluprint’s online class Classic Sugar Flowers with Nicholas Lodge, Bluprint member Coastal Cake Co made some beautiful and realistic orange-hued sugar flowers out of gum paste.

Hydrangea blossom ombré cake
Three cheers for three tiers of ombré orange hydrangea blossoms! I love the slightly ruffled, multi-sized layer upon layer look of these cascading sugar hydrangea blooms in apricot, peach and orange colors. This is such a fun, modern cake, which I am certain took many hours to create. It’s a perfect cake for an ultra-stylish bride and groom.

Cascading orange sugar peony cake
A simple white fondant cake was made extraordinary by the addition of a huge, orange petaled sugar peony. I like how the hand painted outer petals act as a splash effect for the bright, full colored central sugar peony. A show-stopping wedding cake indeed.

Modern sugar ranunculus cake:
Gorgeous much? This vibrantly hued power-orange fondant cake is like a modern dress straight off the runway. I love that bold bottom tier and the sweetly cartoonish sugar ranunculus paired with the blue sugar succulent!
