How to make fondant candy

Materials needed:

  • Red, pink, green, light brown and white fondant
  • Water/edible glue and brush
  • Fondant rolling pin with 1/8″ guide rings
  • 1/4″ wooden dowels
  • Miniature circle cutter
  • Small circle cutter
  • Gingerbread man cutter
  • Round decorating tips #3 and #10
  • Rolling pastry cutter
  • Knife tool
  • Precision knife
  • Raw spaghetti
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Vegetable shortening to soften your fondant
  • Powdered sugar/dusting pouch for your work surface

Materials for Making Fondant Candy

Step 1:

Roll out colored fondant (red, pink, green and light brown) thick with the fondant rolling pin and wooden dowels and cut out two circles of each color with the miniature round cutter.

Step 2:

Insert the raw spaghetti through colored circles, alternating the colors. Trim the ends of the spaghetti when completed, leaving a little protruding to hold the ends.

Step 3:

Roll out white fondant thick with the fondant rolling pin and wooden dowels. Cut out two white circles with the miniature round cutter.

Step 4:

Pinch the circle on one end to create a teardrop shape and use the knife cutter to make two indentations on the top of the wider ends to create the wrapper ruffles.

Step 5:

Insert the wrapper ruffles on both ends of the candy and glue them in place.

Step 1:

Roll out white and colored fondant (color of choice) 1/8″ with the fondant rolling pin and guide rings. Use the rolling pastry cutter to cut out two strips (approximately 5″ in length) with equal widths.

Step 2:

Lay the colored fondant over the white and begin to roll the thick strip with colors into itself.

Step 3:

Use the precision knife to trim the end.

Step 4:

Break the lollipop stick in half and insert one through the bottom of the fondant lollipop by carefully twisting it upward.

Step 5:

Roll three tiny balls of a differing color and glue them to the front of the lollipop.

Step 1:

Roll out colored fondant (color of choice) thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels. Cut out circles with the small round cutter.

Step 2:

Shape one of the circles into an oval with your fingers.

Step 3:

Roll white fondant thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels. Cut out circles (two for each candy) with the miniature round cutter.

Step 4:

Pinch the white circle on one end to create a teardrop shape. Use the knife tool to make two indentations on the top of the wider end to create ruffled wrappers.

Step 5:

Use round decorating tip #3 to make indentations on the ruffled wrapper and use the bottom of the tip to trim off the pointed piece.

Step 6:

Glue the ruffled wrappers to both ends of the candies.

Step 7:

Roll out white fondant 1/8″ with the rolling pin and guide rings and cut out circles with round decorating tip #10 (three for each candy).

Step 8:

Glue the white circles to the top of the candies and use round decorating tip #3 to make indentations in the center of each circle.

Fondant gumdrop tutorial

Step 1:

Roll colored fondant (color of choice) thick with fondant rolling pin and wooden dowels. Cut out circles with the small round cutter.

Step 2:

Roll the circle into a ball, then shape it into a cone with your fingers by making a pointed tip and flattening out the bottom.

Step 3:

Round out the tip of the cone with your fingers to create the gumdrop.

Step 1:

Roll out light brown fondant thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels and cut out a gingerbread man shape.

Step 2:

Use round decorating tip #10 to indent the mouth by pressing it down at a 45-degree angle.

Step 3:

Roll out white fondant with the rolling pin and cut out two small circles with round decorating tip #3. Glue them on the gingerbread man for the eyes.

Step 4:

Roll out red, pink and green fondant with the rolling pin and cut out one circle of each color with round decorating tip #10.

Step 5:

Glue the colored circles to the front of the gingerbread man for buttons and use round decorating tip #3 to indent the center of the buttons.
