I cut the squares at the corner wrong.instead of depth + 3 in I cut depth + 5″. Will stitch up bedsheet hopefully try to stretch n fit on bed

I’ve had the same problem. Even with more elastic, I’ve also had a “finished” sheet too tight to fit all around the mattress.

Did I goof? I cut the 50” elastic into 4 pieces (12.5” each) but it does not stretch the 32” span from 16” dot to dot. I’m puzzled.

Couldn’t you attach wide strips of a similar fabric on both ends to make the sheet long enough? The seams should be on the ends of the mattress and not visible. I have a set of purchased sheets where the bottom sheet has a different fabric on both of the short ends. You don’t even see this when the sheet is on the mattress. It would be one way of salvaging the sheet.

I was stupid enough to not measure my sheet before I ripped off the two edges, so now I have just ruined a flat sheet.
