Puppy Portraits

Project Description

What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? Puppies are like toddlers - wicked tough to capture just the right expression or moment - and very cute and worth the patience it requires to get great shots. (ps - the puppies in my photos are future NEADS service dogs that I foster on weekends...and all between 9-12 weeks old) What are you most proud of? I've captured some very endearing expressions and moments. What advice would you give someone starting this project? PATIENCE...and have treats on hand. The puppy will be all about looking in your direction and responding to you if he/she knows you have treats and you reward them for staying in the spot you want them in

What you will need

  • Well...I busted my kit lens (18-55mm) and replaced it with a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens
  • and I'm having a pretty tough time getting indoor low light shots that aren't noisy or blurry - it's a VERY fickle lens...takes great shots when the proverbial planets align...but very limiting and for me
  • very frustrating. But I'm determined to master it. I'm also learning some Photoshop techniques - played with the "oil paint" filter and I love how those shots turned out (and it helped my noise issue!)
