Mousehole, Cornwall

Project Description

What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? These photographs were taken on a beautiful day, whilst on holiday in Cornwall, England in May 2014. Mousehole (pronounced Mowzle), is a lovely little fishing village with a quaint harbour, very much a tourist attraction in the summer months. I took the main photographs from the harbour wall, looking back into the village with its steep, narrow winding streets. What are you most proud of? Getting the pictures sharp and in focus, right into the distance.

What you will need

  • Nikon D3200 DSLR camera on aperture priority
  • using a standard 28-55mm lens. ISO 100
  • white balance for a sunny day..

Q&A with patz in suffolk

A lovely set Patz, any could feature in next year's Tourism Brochure Geoff
patz in suffolk answered:
That's a lovely thing to say, Geoff - I think Mousehole is so photogenic that absolutely everyone who goes there must get good pictures!
Surfside6 asked:
Pat, these are beautiful photos. Is this where Doc Martin is filmed by any chance? If not, it's its twin sister
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you. No - Doc Marten is filmed in Port Isaac, on the north coast of Cornwall. When I first watched the series I thought it was filmed in Cadgwith on the Lizard Peninsula, because it looks very much like Port Isaac.
Surfside6 asked:
And I thought I was so clever, having that perspective of where it was. Silly me! However, it does not change how wonderful your pictures are. Please share more as you travel.
patz in suffolk answered:
Lots of places in Cornwall look very similar, especially the fishing villages of which there are many, so your guess wasn't a bad one! I think Mousehole is one of the most photogenic of all the coastal villages in Cornwall.
Sharonrenee asked:
Breath Taking photos, love the scenery.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - with such a photogenic subject, it would be difficult to get a bad picture, I think!
NanaJeanFL asked:
Gorgeous pics Pat! I' going to put Mousehole on my list to visit when we make it to England!
patz in suffolk answered:
Yes - you absolutely must! There are lots of lovely places in the same area, Porthleven and Marazion (with St Michael's Mount in the bay) being just two more.
