Project

Low Key Portrait

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The final outcome of the picture. What advice would you give someone starting this project? No need for overly expensive equipment to start. I used a 60 dollar umbrella/light kit from Amazon.

What you will need

  • I used two 33" shoot through umbrellas with 5500k CFL bulbs. I placed one umbrella at a 45 degree angle as a key light and the second umbrella as fill light.

Joe Gilbert asked:
Lovely portrait. Thank you for sharing.
robotec answered:
Thanks Joe.
Kirk Tuck asked:
Hi Robotec, That's a fun shot! Can you give us some details about how you shot it? Thanks, KIrk
robotec answered:
I used two 33" shoot through umbrellas with 5500k CFL bulbs. I placed one umbrella at a 45 degree angle as a key light and the second umbrella as fill light. This was shot with a Canon T3I with a 75-250mm EFS lens at 65mm, ISO 400, 1/6s on a tripod using a 10sec timer.
