Lark Bunting, northern Montana

Project Description

What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? This was a situation where I wish I could have gotten a lot closer, even with my 500mm lens + 1.4x teleconverter. But given my distance limitations, I made the most of the situation, putting the bird in the upper right "rule of thirds" position and leaving plenty of room for the sagebrush vegetation, a distinctive feature of this bird's habitat, to feature prominently in the photo.

What you will need

  • Canon 5D Mark III
  • 500mm f/4L IS lens with 1.4x teleconverter. ISO 320
  • 1/1250s at f/7.1.
