IRISES IN THE MEADOW

Project Description

What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? I found this shot represented some of the shooting situations used as examples in the intimate landscape classes. The actual site was found in a natural reserve in Norfolk, England. Have captured a few shots which are to follow. What are you most proud of? I am pleased with the composition and contrasting colours between the purple and white flowers and sprinkled with small yellow flowers with a variety of plants in bottom left What advice would you give someone starting this project? For your first attempts at Intimate Landscapes try visiting gardens and nature reserves where the ideas are already formed and give some excellent examples to capture.

What you will need

  • Canon 60d with Sigma 18-125mm Lens Set at 28mm. f4.5 at 1/400sec iso 100

Q&A with YESTERMUSIC

Rob Sheppard asked:
This is a lovely use of light and color. In this image, the soft light is perfect to reveal the flowers as you saw them. This allows the colors to be seen for their color and not to be obscured by a harsh light. This is not to say you always need a soft light for a scene like this. If you had a strong sun, then it should emphasize parts of the scene with shadows subduing less important parts. With this light, there are no harsh shadows so the colors are strongly revealed throughout the scene. It is the relationship of colors that strengthens the composition.
YESTERMUSIC answered:
Thank you Rob, this was an overcast day and some other shots I took with water features allowed some nice subdued reflections to be captured.
