I needed something special for a baby shower gift, so I designed this little set.
The bib has a choice of two whimsical applique elephants and a Velcro closure.
I thought about my own experiences with new babies when I designed the burp cloths. First, I shaped then to curve smoothly and comfortably around the neck. Then, I remembered that my own babies used to clutch my hair in their fingers and I carefully had to remove each little hair so it wouldn't get into the baby's mouth. That's why I added the satin ribbon tags. They are something smooth and silky to grab onto - surely more pleasant than hair.
The burp cloths also have two applique choices. I like the cute little daisies, but I know some designated burpers who really don't want frilly flowers draped across their shoulder. That's where the idea for the letters to write "burper" originated.
The pattern contains 5 pages of instructions with photographs, full size patterns for the bib and the burp cloth, plus templates for the appliques.

Since retiring from my teaching career I've discovered that there is life outside of the classroom! I spend parts of most of my days indulging in my favorite hobbies of quilting and sewing. I started designing patterns as an experiment, and no one was more surprised than I was to find that other people liked my little designs. I try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can follow them. I include lots of details, photos, and little informative notes, so even if they look complicated, the instructions should be easy to follow.
