Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Recommend having made 4-5 projects previously
  • Basic sewing and ironing involved, using fusible tape

Pattern Description:

Leaf-shaped mats are constructed in sections with fusible tape and topstitched--no hand sewing or curved piecing/sewing. Add batting, backing and machine quilt, then construct gusseted stem casing ("leg" that forms fabric napkin ring) and topstitch to leaf. Slip your accordion-folded napkin through stem to form 3-D "leaves". Leaf-shaped beverage coasters complete the ensemble. Choose colors and make sets for fall, winter, spring, and summer.
Yardages listed will produce set of 2 with fabric locations as shown in the single leaf photo (blue, purple, lime green, dark green). The alternate set shown uses a variety of scrap fabrics. Each color rib of the leaf will fit within an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of fabric.
