Keepsakes made from clothing are invaluable to the bereaved. It's often difficult to part with a loved one's clothing and using the garments to create a memorial quilt transforms items that would otherwise be hidden away in a closet or box into something comforting and useful.

My goal is to provide you with the information you need to successfully complete your memorial quilt. Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 56x70 inches finished size
  • cutting instructions for 48x60 inch and 64x80 inch quilts also included


  • 10 shirts
  • batting (2-4" longer and wider than your quilt top)
  • backing fabric (4" longer and wider than your quilt top
  • binding (8-9 yards, depending on quilt size)
  • thread for piecing
  • thread appropriate for quilting method
  • fusible lightweight interfacing (8-10 yards should do it)

You Will Also Need:

  • sewing machine
  • basic sewing items (scissors, pins, tape measure, etc.)
  • safety pins
  • painter's tape (optional but recommended)
  • rotary cutting tools (optional)
  • color value viewer (optional)
  • sweater shaver (optional)
