The original Circle of Geese pattern! This design was one of my earliest paper piecing patterns, and since its appearance on my website piecebynumber.com in 2000, it's easily the most popular of any of my designs. The block has a classic yet modern simplicity which lends itself to a wide variety of fabric prints and colors, Plus it's easy to sew!
Craftsy teacher Amy Gibson includes this block in her Craftsy Block of the Month on-line video class -- even beginners will get great results with this block following her excellent demonstration and instruction.
The PDF includes pattern pieces for geese circling both clockwise and counter-clockwise, for 12" finished block sizes.
I had never created anything like this, In fact I had only made 2 quilts ever. Both were the traditional 9 patch. I thought this pattern was a great challenge until I got into constructing the pieces. Relatively simple & goes pretty fast. I did a complete queen size quilt in less than 2 weeks.. I am already planning my second Circle of Geese quilt!!

Saw this pattern on a blog somewhere last year & fell in love with it. Decided it was time I learned to quilt. It may have been ambitious to start with a paper piece pattern, but the instructions made it painless. Thanks!

Super fun to piece and the assembly options are almost endless. Lots of ideas for future uses!
