My wife and I were expecting our 4th child, when I realized that every one I knew that made quilts had stopped making them. I then turned to my wife and asked her, while she was pregnant, to make my baby a quilt. She told me to make my own. That was the start to what became Richard and Tanya quilts. After making 50 quilts (yes 50 lap and baby sized quilts) I have now convinced my wife to start quilting and she has quilted and bound a few quilts. I enjoy designing and creating quilts. I love a mixture of modern and traditional quilting. I have been trying a little of every thing, visit our blog at http://blog.richardandtanyaquilts.com/View all patterns by designer (19) »
This pattern was inspired by the first quilt I ever made. I wanted to make a quilt for my unborn child. I went to the store bought a couple Fat Quarter bundles and ran home to sew. I made a simple pattern on my computer and proceeded to sew it together.
Not realizing the amount of material I needed I had to change my plan and this quilt turned out not to be what it originally was intended to be. I learned then and there I needed to have a good pattern before I started. I turned my Train Wrek (as I called the first quilt I made) into a pattern that any one can succeed in making.
